Leftover sample materials will be discarded 6 months after reporting of results, or can be returned at the users cost.

Bearing in mind that samples for cosmogenic isotope analysis may be large, the SUERC-Cosmo and NEIF-CN expects applicants to collect samples in a way that respects, as far as is practical, landscape aesthetics and cultural sensitivities.  How this is achieved in practice will depend on the setting and purpose of the sampling, but one example is shown at: http://scottishgeodiversityforum.org/charter/ethical-rock-collection/
